How does it actually work?

Here's what that looks like, month to month.

Immediate Action: your Daily Tick

Every month starts with one small thing: a daily habit I set for all of us.

Everyone does the same one, which means from day one we're already doing something rather than just talking about what we're going to do. It runs through the whole month and gives us something to keep coming back to.

In our first Action month, it was a cold shower every morning. Yes, really.

Choose your Thing

Then it's over to you.

What does this month's Permission actually mean for your life? What have you been wanting to do, try, change or get better at?

In our first test month, one woman started writing a book she'd been putting off for years. Another took up painting. Someone started Couch to 5K. Someone else decided simply to get up earlier every day.

Same Permission. Completely different Things.

The Blueprint

Once you've chosen your Thing, we turn it into an actual plan rather than leaving it as a nice idea.

This is where I'll push you to get specific. When are you going to do it? How often? What could get in the way? What can we put in place now that makes it more likely to happen?

Because "I'm going to start running" is an intention. "I'm going to run on Tuesday and Thursday at 7am, and I've told my friend I'll meet her" has a much better chance of actually happening.

The monthly expert session

Each month, we bring in an expert who can add something genuinely useful to that month's Permission.

In our first test month, that was Dr Claire Kaye, who joined us to talk about recognising and playing to your own strengths.

It's a chance to hear from someone who really knows their stuff, ask questions and come away with something useful to apply to your own Thing.

Doing it together

And none of this happens on your own.

There's the WhatsApp group for the everyday stuff: telling people what you're doing, sharing how it went, asking for ideas, celebrating when you did it and admitting when you absolutely didn't.

You'll see other women doing their Things alongside you, on the good days and the days when the plan goes completely out the window.

That's a big part of it. You said you were going to do something. Other people know about it. And they actually want you to do it.

Reflection

At the end of the month, we stop and look at what actually happened.

What did you do? What changed? What worked? What didn't? What have you learned about yourself that you want to take into the next month?

Because this isn't about getting to the end and giving yourself a gold star for completing everything perfectly. It's about noticing what happens when you stop just meaning to do something and actually have a go.
